A database searches different sources and types of information. A platform is the interface used by the database provider.
For example, EBSCO is a database provider that hosts many databases using the same platform or interface. Academic Search Premier and Business Source Complete are two of the many EBSCO databases that use the same platform BUT search different information sources.
Walker Library's JEWL search is used to search ALL of the EBSCO databases to which the library subscribes.
