The information below is for MLA style in citing a genetics lab manual:

  • If the lab manual was created by a staff member or department of the school and is only available through class, cite it as an unpublished work. The rules for in-text citations will be the same. If a department prepared the manual, use it for the name in the citation.
  • For the works cited page of an unpublished manual, you can follow this format.

Lastname, Firstname (or Department name). Lab handbook. School or organization associated with manual. Organization location.  Manual date (use n.d. if no date available). Medium of publication.

Example:

Science and Math Department. "Manual for PHYS 1402". Lab handbook. College of the Mainland. Texas City. 2014. Print.
