There are two online music resources that can help with this assignment. Also, check out the sources below for more suggestions.

  • Garland Encyclopedia of World Music Online:
    • Includes streaming audio examples (links are on left side of page) of music divided into geographical groupings almost identical to those in the assignment. Information within specific tracks sometimes includes performer names.
  • Another option is Music Online:
    • For American music, click the Genres link under the American Music tab. For world music, click the World Music tab, then Places, then click the + next to a continent to see a list of countries. Clicking a country name will take you to a list of recordings of music from that country.
