An error in May 2021 caused MTSU users to lose access to their complimentary New York Times account. Here is how to restore it.

Existing NYT digital access users who were “unsubscribed”

  • Use an incognito browser window (or clear your browser cache) to visit this URL to restore the subscription: https://nytimesineducation.com/access-nyt/. The page will say “activate your complimentary access.”

  • Follow the prompts even though you have already created an account. You will receive a verification email that you need to open and act on. If you have an MTSU employee email address, the verification email may be quarantined by Proofpoint.

  • If you have been using the NYT mobile app for access, you may have to log out of the app and log back in again after you click on the link in the verification email. The password you created earlier should remain the same. The verification email may be quarantined by Proofpoint.

To create a NYT digital access account for the first time, go to http://www.nytimes.com/passes.
